Description
Fontanafredda royal caves developed from the second half of the XIX century. The main storehouses have been recovered to host the Emanuele di Mirafiore Foundation, a new institution devoted to wine culture: a theatre, a library/bookshop and a restaurant are gathered in the same location, to provide a unique experience.
The part close to the entrance is a thematic path, lined by books on the on side and by wine bottles on the other. This leads to the main focal point of the ambiance – the wooden theatre: a wooden framework elliptically-shaped provide an auditorium for conferences and shows, but a place to sit and taste wine as well. It appears a sort of an ancient theatre machinery, where everybody takes part on the show: the lecturer on the stage and the public sitting on the high seats; it should be closed and soundproofed by velvet curtain or let open and visible by the entire space.
The second focal point is the restaurant, a square space surrounded by lunch counters.
